Wednesday, 3/31 GRAVITY ROCKS!
Today, we finished our pendulum labs and almost EVERYONE came up with somewhere near 9.8 m/s/s! This is just what Galileo did back in the 17th century! GREAT JOB ALL!

Tuesday, 3/30/10
Today, we began Galileo's experiment using a pendulum. Students chose different "bobs" and used different lengths of pendulums for the lab. This will be the final grade for Quarter 3 in science! The lab is due tomorrow.

Wednesday, 3/24 Physics lecture is over!
Today, we finished the physics (Force & Motion/Simple Machines) lecture (#9) 3/22-3/24. Tomorrow, we will begin applying the formulas talked about today. We'll be identifying classes of levers and calculating mechanical advantage.
There will be a quiz on the lecture and all students were to print out their notes. If they have the notes when we have the quiz, they will be able to use them.
Bring calculators to class!

Monday, 3/22 PHYSICS RULES!!!!
Today, we began our physics unit (Force & Motion/Simple Machines) today with the Overview (#9) (N) 3/22-3/24. There will be a quiz this week, so be sure and bring your notes (from the Overview) to class.
Also, be sure and bring your calculators to class every day!

Thursday, 3/11 - BRIDGES!
Today, we did the bridges. They were WONDERFUL! Some were built for strength, some were keynotes, some were posters, some were models, drawings, etc. I think we have some students who would enjoy the field of engineering! Great job!

Wednesday, 3/10 - BRUNSWICK HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS VISIT
Today, the counselors from Brunswick High School were here to help students sign up for their freshman classes. It's an exiting time for all!
Tomorrow, the bridge projects are due. Students have had quite a while to work on this, so, hopefully, they haven't waited until the last minute to do the project as it will count as a lab. They had a series of choices (all are listed on Tuesday's blog)
We will watch October Sky for a couple of days after the bridge project and then will begin our physics unit.

I will keep this blog to keep all of us up with what's happening on a daily basis. Today (and yesterday),students took the astronomy test.
Tomorrow, the BHS counselors will be in science classes helping students choose their high school classes for next year. Students will be bringing home their choices (which also need to be signed by their teachers) for parent signatures. For a copy of the book the students will be choosing through, go to http://www.brunswick.k12.me.us/bhs/course_of_study/index.htm
